Seven Vows / Saat Phere

The ritual of Seven Vows or Saat Pheres is one of the ritual of great significance. The Seven vows or step steps taken around the sacred fire make the bond of marriage eternal.

The Bride and the Groom with each round makes a promise and this way they make seven promises.

• In the first round/phera, the bride and the groom pledge that they would acquire a healthy and prosperous living.

• In the second phera, they ask for physical, mental, spiritual peace from God to lead a healthy lifestyle.

• During the third vow, the couple ask for wealth and earn a living through righteous and proper means.

• While taking the fourth vow, the couple pledges to maintain love and respect for each other and their respective families.

• The fifth vow is taken to have beautiful children, for whom they will be responsible.

• In the sixth step, the couple promises to lead a peaceful and pray for the longevity of their marital relationship.

• In the last Seventh vow, the bride and the groom, promises for togetherness, companionship, commitment and understanding between themselves.
